Reveal

To reveal is to bring out what is not immediately visible. Made of burnt wood, this stool develops a patina over time. Like an archaeological find, this robust piece is a witness to the passing of time. Over time and with use, it acquires a unique surface that carries within it the history of the place where it is installed. A white marble handle, concealed in the seat of the stool, creates a sensory surprise in contrast to the roughness of the wood. With the addition of a tray, the seat is transformed into a coffee table.

Project carried out as part of the Mobilier National 2025 competition. Furniture range designed for the French Institute in Latin America (IFAL). Designed with Camille Labourier, Victoire Lesthevenon and Oscar Boyer. Photographs: Véronique Huyghe
