Reconstruct

To reconstruct is to assemble fragments to give shape to a narrative. This lamp exists in two versions : a battery-powered reading lamp and a ceiling lamp. Both versions feature the same suspended component. The diffuser is made of carved alabaster, cut from a single block. The reading lamp will erode over time with use, any falls and the touch of each hand. The ceiling lamp, on the other hand, will remain intact, allowing it to be compared to the eroded reading lamp and to reflect the passing of time.

Project carried out as part of the Mobilier National 2025 competition. Furniture range designed for the French Institute in Latin America (IFAL). Designed with Camille Labourier, Victoire Lesthevenon and Oscar Boyer. Photographs: Véronique Huyghe
